Thistle hope to avoid Croms upset

As the Ross-shire Welfare league season heads into the penultimate match of it's first round of fixtures, Tain Thistle will make travel to Cromarty this Wednesday, in the hope that they can put another three points on the board. Thistle currently trail Balintore by eight points with a game in hand and with memories still fresh in the mind from their one and only visit to Victoria Park last year, nothing but a win will be considered acceptable.

Thistle ran out 9-0 winners on their way to the league championship at Cromarty in 2009, with veteran full back James Rice scoring a hat-trick, Liam Rostock doing the same, while Robbie Ross also bagged a goal. The night was rounded off with a sensational brace for substitute Craig Nimmons.

Despite their -10 goal difference in the league, the Cromarty men are expected to have improved greatly, having won their first three points in the league last week at Dingwall after holding Inver to a draw two days prior.

For Thistle, winger Darran Goller will return from suspension as well as James Rice who missed out last week due to work commitments. Kyle Oliver remains a doubt carrying a persistent shin complaint, while Andrew Durrand was confirmed to have played his final game for Tain last week when he was given his release on Saturday.
